For the second time, voters in North Texas have rejected a proposal to build a $100 million high school stadium in Anna.
According to The Dallas Morning News, the measure was among nearly a dozen North Texas districts' bond propositions up on Saturday's elections. In all, the districts' asks totaled about $2.5 billion and included new campuses, safety improvements, technology and other upgrades.
Nearly 57 percent of eligible voters rejects the bond proposal.
Ann school officials said they sought to bring the new stadium, which would be used for football, soccer, ceremonies and other activities, before voters as its own proposal.
Voters approved the district’s expansion plans, including multiple new campuses, but not the 12,000-seat stadium. Officials wanted the stadium to have space for career and technical education classes as well.
