Sometimes, a subtle aesthetic decision can make all the difference, turning an otherwise-overlooked space into an elegant, eye-catching design element. The wood flooring used on the racquetball courts at Marietta College's Dyson Baudo Recreation Center extends past the court walls and into the corridor, but the wood strips outside of the court are laid perpendicular to those on the court - providing contrasting appeal. This approach allowed St. Louis-based Hastings & Chivetta Architects to create a stark yet clean transition to the adjacent VCT flooring in the corridor.
