(OAKLAND, CA, CHANDLER, AZ, June 1, 2017)  â€“ The Association of Fitness Studios (AFS), the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), and its sister organization the Athletics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) announced today that they have reached a collaboration agreement to enhance opportunities for members and clients of each organization.

For more than 20 years, NASM has set the standard in certification, continuing education, solutions and tools for health and fitness, sports performance, and sports medicine professionals. NASM has pioneered evidence-based solutions, founded on their signature Optimum Performance Training (OPT™) model, one of the industry’s first comprehensive training sys tems.

Since 1983, AFAA has issued over 350,000 certifications in 73 countries to group and personal trainers dedicated to leading others to a love for fitness. AFAA believes that changing bodies, changes lives, and that group or personal training are about much more than just knowing the exercise or routine.

“NASM and AFAA are among the most respected certifying bodies in fitness. They’ve stood the test of time,” said Josh Leve, AFS founder and CEO. â€ťWe are very pleased and excited to have developed a platform that will deliver mutually beneficial products and services to both our constituencies.”

NASM and AFAA have provided generations of trainers with the practical skills, science, and hands-on experience necessary for effective group leaders and trainers to motivate and inspire others to move toward healthier and happier lives.

“The studio segment of our industry is exploding,” said Jeremy Guenther, NASM’s Director of Business Development. â€śWe’re seeing more of our certified fitness professionals seeking both employment and entrepreneurship opportunities in the studio space. This partnership is designed to support their evolving needs and career goals.”

The AFS/NASM/AFAA relationship will ensure fitness professionals, studio owners, and aspiring owners have access to the practical education, recruiting solutions, and business practices needed to win in today’s competitive marketplace.

“There’s almost no limit to the what we can do together,” said Leve.  â€śWe look forward to working with NASM and AFAA to make it happen.”
