Security Team Travels All Over the World with National Leagues Securing Events

San Antonio, TX. (October 4, 2017) – Pinnacle Venue Services’ security team had a busy few months prepping for international sporting events. This past summer the security team diligently worked with The National Hockey League (NHL) on their recent game in China and the National Basketball League (NBA) on the 2017 African Game in Johannesburg, South Africa. The Pinnacle team planned and implemented multiple layers of security efforts, including staffing and emergency plans, and communication with local security teams.

“There is so much planning and coordination that goes into hosting an international event,” said Pinnacle Venue Services’ Scott Anderson, VP of Security & Fan Experience. “We work with leagues to ensure their security and safety measures are implemented and the venues are current with the security levels needed to host their events.”

For the NHL’s first game ever played in China, Pinnacle was responsible for the security operating plan and implementation. The in-depth plan included the staffing plan for manpower, logistics and screening, activating an Emergency Plan for staff, guests and teams, coordinating teams arrival and movement to and from hotels and arenas, and working with the local security teams to ensure all details were implemented.

In addition to planning for the international events, the Pinnacle team worked with select Major League Baseball (MLB) teams to run Red Team Assessments on their security efforts. The assessments or audits are to help venues, and teams identify vulnerabilities in the overall security apparatus from an independent, experienced venue security professional.  By identifying the vulnerabilities and preventing incidents, organizations can find solutions to issues before an incident occurs and creates a negative moment.

“With the increasing attacks on entertainment venues, it is imperative for all public assembly venues, promoters, and professional sporting events to ensure their events and facilities are secure and safe for attendees.” Said J.T. Klingenmeier, Pinnacle’s Director of Venue Services. â€śThe landscape is constantly changing and, therefore, venues and teams need always to be adapting their security operations to be effective.”
