CPR/AED, First Aid Remote/Online Training

SOURCE: HeartSmart Inc.

In response to the Covid crisis where onsite group training is not safe, we have developed a new remote training option for you to obtain your initial training or maintain certifications for yourself or your employees. The new program is detailed below. To register or for additional details, simply contact us at the email or phone number below.

GROUPS (Businesses, State/Municipal Agencies, Police Departments, Child Care Centers)

Contact HeartSmart for an Online Service Agreement. Complete the agreement and return with a class roster of student names. You will be invoiced at this time for the number of staff on the roster. Cost will be determined by what course(s) are requested and number of students. Cost will be less than the cost of onsite group trainings.

You will be sent a "Student Packet" with texts, exams, PowerPoint, and our new CPR/AED demo video which you will distribute. The registered students will work through the program at their own pace and time, complete and turn-in the written exam(s) to HeartSmart for grading. Students need to receive 80% or better on the exam to pass.

Students will be sent an email confirmation of successful completion which qualifies them to attend a CPR Skills Checkoff session to finish their CPR/AED certification. (Please see Checkoff Session below.)

INDIVIDUALS (Home Child Care Providers, Foster Parents, Anyone Interested)

Contact HeartSmart to register. You will be sent a "Student Packet" to complete.

Once you pass all exams, you will be able to attend the CPR Skills Checkoff. (Please see Checkoff Session below.)

First Aid Certification does not require the "hands on" short CPR Skills Checkoff.

CPR Skills Checkoff Session - To obtain CPR/AED certification, students will need to complete a short "hands on" one-hour skills checkoff. This will be conducted in groups of six or less following all current CDC sanitation guidelines. Your employer will arrange this session at your workplace. Individuals will attend a site (location state-wide) to complete this portion. This "hands on" session is modeled after American Heart Association and Red Cross guidelines for certification. You will have one year to complete this requirement.

Approved by CHSSA – “The Colorado High School Activities Association strongly believes in the safety and well-being of student athletes and participants. The CHSAA believes this class and booklet  is a valuable resource for coaches and supervisors; it is concise and easy to read how-to-guide on  handling common injury situations until medical professionals arrive.”

Meets the State Bill 11-040 “Concussion Act” – Concussion management for coaches.

Meets the State Law for CPR/AED Certification – Required for middle and high school coaches. This class was developed in response to the need to educate sports coaches in CPR, First Aid and AED use. This course offers cutting edge information on youth cardiac arrest. New stats from NATA show 41% of deaths in high school and college athletes are cardiac related, making it the #1 killer. You will learn about HCM, Long QTS Syndrome, ARVC, CPVT, Brugadas Syndrome, Aortic Anomalies and Commotio Cordis (these are some of the most common heart conditions that kill children). You will be certified on the use of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) which is the tool that can save the collapsed athlete. You will get specific first aid for sports injuries from national resources including the Korey Stringer Institute at UCONN for heatstroke, sickle cell cycling, and other sports emergency topics. One of our Play With Heart donated units saved a 12-year-old wrestler at Falcon Middle School in Colorado Springs. Take this opportunity to learn how to operate equipment and the skills to safe a life.
