Infinity Wood Floors (Crandon, Wis.) has purchased the intellectual property of Aacer Flooring for an undisclosed sum. It will now produce Aacer’s sports flooring systems out of its Crandon wood flooring mill.
Aacer Flooring, a large manufacturer of residential and sports wood flooring located in Peshtigo, Wis., closed permanently on July 31, citing supply chain issues and labor market challenges.
“Aacer had all the sports systems and a really nice following,” said Infinity’s Tom Blakeman in explaining the impetus for the purchase. Blakeman, known for decades in the industry as one of the founders of distributor Blake-Stevens Wood Flooring, has owned Infinity with partners Mike Baseman and Pat Tallier since 2019.
“it’s going to be a little bit of a shift … not a dramatic shift, because we have some loyal distribution we don’t want to let down,” Blakeman told WFB. “We’ll still be running oak, but our focus will be maple.”
Randy Randjelovic, previously a technical advisor at Aacer, now serves the same role at Infinity.
Infinity will be an Maple Flooring Manufacturers Association-member mill starting Jan. 1, 2023.
“We think we make a really great product,” Blakeman said. “We feel like the Aacer brand is pretty well-respected, and we hope that we’re good stewards of it.”
