(WTI) (Aquatic Consultant) for the temporary competition and warm-up/training swimming pools at the 2013 FINA World Aquatic Championships in Barcelona, Spain.
The 10 Lane, 50m x 26m x 2m competition pool will be used for synchronized swimming (July 20-27) and swimming events (July 28 - August 4). The pool is located in the Palau Sant Jordi and it utilizes the exclusive Myrtha technology to provide the fastest possible environment for swimmers that attend this world-class event.
The state-of-the-art Myrtha technology swimming pools have a stainless steel structure, utilize PVC for waterproofing and have ceramic tilling. The water filtration and circulation systems, designed by WTI, are applied to both the competition pool and warm-up/training pool. The 50m x 21m x 2m warm-up/training pool, located outside of the Palau Sant Jordi, is slightly smaller than the competition pool and holds 2.5 million liters of water. Both pools utilize Neptune Benson innovative regenerative media filters to provide exceptional water quality.
FINA World Championships, hosted every two years in between the Summer Olympics, is the World Championships of Aquatic Sports: Swimming, Diving, Open Water Swimming, Synchronized Swimming and Water Polo. It is estimated that the event will draw approximately 2,500 athletes from 180 countries over the two week period.
