Sal Pellegrino Pursues New Advisory Roles, Steps Down as Executive Director of the Fitness Industry Supplier Association After Nearly Four Years

Fitness Industry leader Sal Pellegrino today announced that he will conclude his tenure as Executive Director of the Fitness Industry Supplier Association (FISA) on December 15, 2026, after nearly four years. Moving forward, Pellegrino will focus on advisory roles, board work, and new projects across the health and fitness industry.

His departure caps a period of strong momentum for the non-profit trade organization, which has represented fitness suppliers, manufacturers, and technology providers since 2000.

Four Decades in the Fitness Industry

Pellegrino brought over four decades of experience as both a fitness club owner and a supplier executive to FISA, transitioning from club operator to equipment sales leader, trend spotter, and advisor.

His supplier career began in 1984 at StairMaster Sports Medical Products, spending 13 years managing Northeast sales and product launches. In 1998, he joined Precor USA as National Account Manager, managing top accounts and providing market intelligence for nearly 11 years.

Pellegrino later served as National Sales Director for Les Mills International (2008–2010) and Director of National Accounts at Core Health & Fitness (2010–2015). In 2015, he returned to Precor as Senior Strategic Account Manager before taking the helm at FISA in February 2023.

Throughout his career across commercial chains, independent facilities, YMCAs, and medical wellness centers, Pellegrino has been a regular speaker and educator, known for building relationships and developing industry talent.

What Changed at FISA

Taking charge in early 2023 during post-pandemic recovery, Pellegrino revitalized FISA’s core value proposition for members.

He expanded FISA’s flagship networking events—FISA East, FISA West, and FISA for YMCAs—connecting suppliers directly with key operator decision-makers in targeted, high-value formats.

Pellegrino also spearheaded a partnership with Murphy Research to deliver market insights through The Fitness Trends Report series.

Under his leadership, FISA diversified its membership by adding software, technology, and service providers, while building strategic alliances across industry media and associations.

He also streamlined daily operations, improved financial standing, and strengthened board collaboration, leaving a solid foundation for his successor.

In His Own Words

“Serving this industry has been the privilege of my career. FISA’s members design the equipment, build the technology, and create the programming that gets millions moving. Advocating for them has meant a great deal. The association is on solid ground with an engaged membership and invested board, making this the right moment to step back. I look forward to continuing to contribute to the industry in new ways.”

Pellegrino will continue taking on advisory engagements, board roles, speaking appearances, and special projects across fitness equipment, technology, and programming. He will remain a resource for FISA members and support the transition through December 2026.
