Letter from the Editor: Keep 'er Movin'

It's 2019. Your resolutions have been set, your new diet and workout plans are in place, and you've pretty much stuck with them over the last week (finishing off the leftover cookies from the New Year's Eve celebration is logged on the 2018 ledger, so you're good there). Perhaps the hardest part of these new beginnings lies in our proclaiming them smack dab in the doldrums of winter, which means we have to stay motivated through scarce daylight, heavy eating and some truly crummy weather in many parts of the world (did I mention it's 27 degrees outside as I write this?).

This is the part where I give props to our readers, those who man the battle stations in the athletics, fitness and rec industries. You design, build, operate and maintain the facilities that keep us healthy. You're also the people who ensure we stay motivated through the dark days. If you're a personal trainer, you might even be bumping up the intensity of our workouts a notch to account for that extra pint we afforded ourselves (to stave off the cold, of course) after the pot roast was polished off. For this, we salute you!

In this, our first issue of 2019, we're proud to spotlight the expansion of our Aquatic Design Portfolio. This year we had a record 29 entries representing a range of facility types, from state-of-the-art natatoriums to cutting-edge community pools and waterparks. If you're planning an aquatics project in the coming year, you'll want to be sure to peruse the Fifth Annual Aquatic Design Portfolio.

Everyone at Athletic Business has made it their resolution to continue supporting the work our audience does. From spotlighting impressive facilities to explaining the issues that affect our industry on a daily basis, we hope to continue providing something for everyone. Looking back on 2018, we want you to know how thankful we are for the generosity with which you have shared your knowledge and expertise. In doing so, you have helped educate your peers and evolve the industry through the pages of our publication.

As we say here in Wisconsin, keep 'er movin'.
