Concessions sales at the University of Nebraska's Memorial Stadium grew significantly in the first year it became a cash-free venue, as vendors grossed $7 million in sales in 2024, up from the $4.5 million generated last season.
As reported by Nebraska Public Media, citing athletic department figures, the change represents a 56% increase.
Nebraska hosted seven home games both this season and last.
The athletic department announced the move to cashless operations in late August. In an October interview, athletic director Troy Dannen said card-only sales decreased wait times for food and drinks.
Cashless stadiums can offer other benefits, including increased operational efficiency, as well as reduce fraud and theft.
