This week sources discovered that the College Sports Commission would be investigating the University of North Carolina’s football team for possible NIL and revenue-sharing violations.
According to CBS Sports, Pablo Torre of Pablo Torre Finds Out reported the investigation on Twitter.

The last time CSC investigated a school, proceedings were kept under wraps until the oversight commission announced that the investigation was closed and no disciplinary action had been taken. During that LSU investigation, Katie B. Medearis, head of investigations, led the charge. It has not been announced if Meadaris is involved in the UNC investigation.

The investigation comes on the heels of UNC placing the football team’s general manager Michael Lombardi on paid administrative leave, but neither the school nor CSC has confirmed whether the two incidents are related.
A source told ESPN the Lombardi decision stemmed from a human resources complaint filed by a former UNC front office employee.
UNC athletics has spent unprecedented amounts of money since NIL and revenue-sharing were first approved. WRAL News reported that in the 2024-25 school year, the Tarheels spent $188 million, including $14 million in revenue-sharing payments. Of the total $20.5 million schools are obligated to share with student-athletes, an estimated $13 million is spent exclusively on UNC’s football roster.
The school has not yet commented on the CSC investigation.
