A volunteer soccer coach in Mount Pleasant has been arrested after police said a Snapchat video showed him grabbing a teenager's neck and shoving the child to the ground.

Arthur Parsons Geer, 44, of Chambers Lane in Mount Pleasant faces a charge of second-degree assault and battery in the Monday incident. He has been relieved of his coaching duties at the Mount Pleasant Recreation Department, town spokeswoman Martine Wolfe-Miller said Thursday.

About 6 p.m. Monday, the 14-year-old victim and some friends were playing soccer at the town recreational complex on Park West Boulevard, according to an incident report. Geer arrived and told them to leave because there was a scheduled game about to be played.

When the juveniles "were slow to leave and kept kicking the ball back and forth," Geer confiscated their soccer ball and put it in his bag, the report stated.

The juveniles swore at Geer, who then kicked their ball across the field, the report added. The youths did the same to one of Geer's soccer balls. It was not immediately clear how many children were there.

Mount Pleasant police said Geer then held the victim by the throat and threw the teen down, scraping the child's neck. Another juvenile threw shoes at Geer in defense of the victim, the report said.

One of the juveniles filmed much of the confrontation on Snapchat, a multimedia messaging application. Geer later admitted to the assault, according to the report.
