Former menās basketball coach at Seattle University, Cameron Dollar, has filed suit in the King County Superior Courts, accusing the school of firing without cause, harboring racial bias and failing to provide full compensation.
Dollarās suit alleges that SU refuses to āremedy its long-standing pattern of discriminatory and harassing treatmentā and that Dollar āexperienced emotional distress due to the experiences he hadā while employed there, according to The Seattle Times.
The discrimination suit, filed Nov. 16, further alleges that the university made promises to Dollar upon his hiring regarding future investments in the basketball program, but never followed through. It also details a falling out with former SU athletic director Bill Hogan.
Dollar, 41, was hired by Hogan in 2009 and was fired after eight seasons.
In a public statement, SU responded to Dollars accusations, saying, āSeattle University is committed to maintaining a learning and working environment free from discrimination. The university also strongly supports its coaches and student-athletes as they further the universityās mission and compete for championships.
āLast spring, the university determined that its menās basketball program needed a change in direction to reach its full potential. The university parted ways with Coach Dollar while still fulfilling all obligations under his contract. The university vehemently disputes Coach Dollarās claims and will respond to them accordingly.ā
