A former employee at a Pennsylvania training center has been charged with stealing more than $11,000 from the business over a three-year period.
According to The Intelligencer, Justin Nusblatt was an employee at the Newtown Athletic Club’s Sports Training Center, where he allegedly pocketed cash intended for renting equipment and facility space instead of using the facility’s point-of-sale system.
Police began investigating in October 2017 after staff noticed that cash revenue from the center fell, but revenues from non-cash payment methods remained consistent.
An investigation into the system revealed that Nusblatt used aliases to cancel 1,057 reservations after accepting cash payments. Nusblatt’s cancelations accounted for more than half of the recorded client cancelations during that time.
Jim Worthington, owner of the NAC, told The Intelligencer that he was disappointed to learn about the allegations, noting that he knew Nusblatt as a child.
Nusblatt was charged with multiple felony counts and released on $50,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on July 8.
