Facility Friday: UT Chattanooga Facility, Illinois Golf and More

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga announced that it would break ground on the Wolford Family Athletics Center in the fall. The project includes a 35,000-square-foot addition and 35,000-square-foot renovation to McKenzie Arena on the UTC campus. Plans call for a four-story addition immediately adjacent to the Arena. Work is expected to be complete by 2022. — blog.utc.edu

Monsignor Pace High School in Miami Gardens, Fla., broke ground recently on a $1.5 million renovation to the school’s Spartan Stadium. According to the Miami Herald, the new facility will feature a new polyurethane track surface and synthetic turf, and will serve the football, soccer, track, cross country, girls’ flag football and cheerleading programs. — Miami Herald 

The Texas Tech University Board of Regents recently approved a budget that will help fund work on the school’s baseball clubhouse. The $1.1 million project will renovate 10,000 square feet of space, and add 9,500 square feet to the facility’s gross square footage. Plans call for a coach’s office suite, a relocated player locker room, a classroom, a film room and upgraded athletic training and hydrotherapy facilities. Construction is scheduled to begin in the fall. — KCBD.com

The University of Illinois announced that it received a $2 million gift to fully fund the expansion of the Demirjian Indoor Golf Practice Facility. The expansion project will add several hitting bays and a state-of-the-art putting studio. New technology will also be integrated within the facility, to allow golfers instant-feedback and analysis. — FightingIllini.com
