The University of Pittsburgh unveiled a new initiative called Victory Heights, which will provide the school’s student-athletes with state-of-the-art facilities for competition, training and sports performance and medicine. The initiative, part of the school’s campus master plan, calls for several new facility projects, including: a 3,500-seat arena for gymnastics, volleyball and wrestling; an eight-lane, 300-meter indoor track that will be used both by the track and field programs and the Pitt Band; and a new athletic performance center focused on strength and conditioning, sports medicine, nutrition and mental well-being. — PittsburghPanthers.com

The city of Papillion, Neb., recently celebrated the grand opening of Papillion Landing, a $51 million community recreation center. The 120,000-square-foot facility features amenities such as a gymnasium, a yoga studio, a cycling room, a fitness area with free weights and cardio equipment, and a natatorium with a leisure pool, lazy river and children’s pool. — Omaha World-Herald
The University of Indiana unveiled a new erg room/office space for its rowing program inside the Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. The newly renovated space features 60 Concept 2 and four RP3 rowing machines, a stretching room and a rowing-only athletic training facility. Campbellsville University-Harrodsburg recently opened a new Athletic Complex that will serve the school’s basketball program. The NCAA D-II program in Kentucky is just three years old, and previously relied on local high schools to play their games, but with the new complex they have a facility of their own that can seat 1,000 fans. — amnews.com

Flushing (Mich.) High School is preparing to open a new state-of-the-art athletic facility. The 15,000-square-foot gym has seating for about 2,000 fans, and features additional amenities such as a concessions stand, a 20-seat scorer’s table with an embedded video board, and a three-lane elevated track.
