The University of Nebraska athletics department has partnered with the Nebraska Soybean Board to promote and power all team buses with biodiesel.

Arrow State Lines, which handles all Nebraska bussing duties announced this week that it is changing all of its buses to biodiesel.

In a press release, Arrow State touted the following benefits for the change:

Performance: Biodiesel offers fuel economy, horsepower, and torque that’s on par with conventional petroleum diesel.

Eco-Friendly: It has considerably fewer harmful effects on diesel engines, the environment, and human health.

Economic Impact: Adopting biodiesel reduces our reliance on foreign oil, stimulates the U.S. economy, and supports tens of thousands of jobs.

Boost to Soybean Farmers: The usage of biodiesel adds a significant 63 cents per bushel to the value of soybeans. Moreover, it brings down soy protein meal prices by $20 – $40/ ton.

Health and Environment: Biodiesel substantially reduces particulate matter by 47%, curtails smog, and overall makes the air around us healthier to breathe.

"We believe that sustainable choices create ripple effects," the statement read. "Arrow Stage Lines is thrilled to embark on this biodiesel journey, and we invite you to be a part of it. By choosing to travel with us, you’re not only getting a top-tier travel experience but also contributing to a brighter, cleaner, and greener future for all"
