One man is dead and 15 others were injured at a marathon in Brooklyn, N.Y., over the weekend.

According to CNN, a 32-year-old runner died after finishing a half marathon at the event. The runner was found unconscious, lying on the pavement after crossing the finish line just before 9 a.m.

The man immediately received medical attention from medical staff before being transported to Coney Island Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:44 a.m.

"We are deeply saddened by the passing of a participant following the 2022 RBC Brooklyn Half," the NYRR said in a statement. "Our thoughts and sympathies are with the runner's family and those close to them."
