A high school football player died last week after experiencing a medical emergency at practice the previous day.
According to the DeKalb County School District, 15-year-old Mikah King, a sophomore at Arabia Mountain High School in Stonecrest, Ga., was taken to the hospital and died hours later, as reported by Atlanta CBS affiliate WANF.
The medical emergency occurred Tuesday. However, no official cause of King's death Wednesday has been given.
King played offensive guard and defensive tackle for Arabia Mountain, according to Jordan Hollie, a football player at Southwest DeKalb High School and King's best friend since kindergarten.
“I know I’m going to miss him because that was my day one,”  Hollie said, as reported by WANF.“He loved [football] as much as I did. He was my practice partner. He would push me to be better.”
The school district told WANF that it will have grief counselors available to support students and staff.
