Police reports said that teammates were “lobbying for the freshman to be more accountable” after he missed a workout when he verbally lashed out.
Henderson was not arrested for the locker room altercation, but three days later, he was released from the team.Â
An athletics department spokesperson told Count On 2 News, “Clemson has made the decision to dismiss Marquise Henderson from its program. We wish him the best as he moves forward.”
Henderson’s former teammates later denied that he specifically threatened anyone, but the Tigers’ head coach, Dabo Swinney, took action against the four-star recruit anyway.
Sports Illustrated reported that Henderson had transferred to Liberty University following the incident; however, recent reports claim that the transfer portal data has since been deleted. No further reporting has confirmed where Henderson will play in the 2025 season.
