The softball team from Umpqua Community College in Oregon was traveling by bus from a game Friday when struck head-on by a pickup truck — a crash that killed an Umpqua player and coach.

As reported by The Associated Press, the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado pickup crossed the center line and crashed into the bus carrying 10 members of the Umpqua team Friday night in Coos County, Oregon State Police said. The team was traveling from a game in Coos Bay, according to a statement from the school cited by the AP.
