A youth football coach in Clearwater, Fla., was arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery and disorderly conduct after an on-field verbal altercation with an opposing coach escalated to a physical fight involving dozens of people.
According to Fox13 News, Coach Earick Williams initiated the confrontation and was identified by several witnesses as the man who punched and left a cut on another man’s face. Two people were injured, and first responders reported 10 to 15 total people involved on the Countryside Sports Complex field.
The Tampa Bay Times reported that the fight between coaches began due to “a dispute with juvenile players,” but no further details could be confirmed regarding what led to the large-scale altercation.
Williams is being held in Pinellas County Jail on $1,250 bond.
