A physical altercation at an Indianapolis Crunch Fitness franchise has resulted in the arrest of an off-duty Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer, now charged with battery.
According to the Indy Star, the officer was identified as Taylor Jones. The fight occurred at 10:35 a.m. on February 21st, and Jones was arrested nearly three weeks later on March 13. He was placed on administrative duty by IMPD prior to his arrest and is now suspended without pay pending termination.
The Feb. 21st fight allegedly occurred between Jones and another male gymgoer. Both sustained moderate injuries during the altercation at Crunch Fitness.
Sources have not confirmed what led to the altercation, but the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office had initially listed Jones as the victim in the altercation before further review altered the investigation and subsequent arrest.
Jones has been released on bail and is awaiting an initial court date.
