Forest Park Pool reopened in summer 2024 following a transformative $15 million renovation that expanded the historic community landmark to 85,000 square feet. Originally built in 1922, the pool has long been central to Fort Worth recreation, but previous renovations were insufficient to address structural issues, prompting a full-scale modernization funded by a 2022 voter-approved bond program. The revitalized facility features a 12,320-square-foot Olympic-sized competition pool with eight 50-meter lanes, 12 25-yard cross-course lanes, water volleyball, and a runout waterslide with open and closed flumes. Depths range from 4 feet to 7 feet, 6 inches. A 4,550-square-foot leisure pool includes a beach entry, a play structure, a tot slide, bubbler features, an underwater shelf, and depths up to 3 feet, 6 inches, providing inclusive play opportunities for all ages. Upgraded mechanical, chemical and sanitation systems — including UV units, modern pumps and filters — ensure high-performance operation. The new bathhouse enhances the visitor experience, and careful programming maintains clear separation between competitive and recreational areas. Completed within a single off-season, this renovation preserves Forest Park Pool’s historic character while delivering a state-of-the-art aquatics environment. At full capacity, the facility accommodates 351 swimmers, combining competitive, recreational and family-friendly amenities in a single community-focused destination.
