Phillips Academy Pan Athletic Center

The Pan Athletic Center uniquely combines school programs for wrestling, dance and swim into one beautiful space. The natatorium is the centerpiece of the facility, capable of hosting large regional swim meets. The space is generously day-lit to provide views of nature and an awareness of the passage of time without impacting the usability of the facility. The project uses a micro-turbine system to support the year-round heating load of the natatorium. By generating building electricity on site, waste heat is harnessed from the turbines to cover the building’s hot water load. The facility has held multiple Eastern and New England Preparatory School Athletic Council championships and has become an integral part of the Academy’s campus and community.
