The redevelopment of OβNeil Park and Pool transformed an older Bloomington neighborhood with a 110,000-square-foot aquatics facility designed for both recreational and competitive swimming. The inclusive design provides engaging opportunities for individuals and families of all ages and abilities. At the center of the facility is a 4,460-square-foot lap pool holding 296,374 gallons and featuring eight 25-yard lanes, 1- and 3-meter diving boards, a stair entry, grab rails and a pool lift to ensure accessibility. Complementing this is a 9,448-square-foot leisure pool with 204,800 gallons, zero-depth entry, a 30-foot tower with three waterslides (including one runout), a 160-foot lazy river, spray features, underwater benches, multiple stair entries and a pool lift. These features create a safe and fun aquatics environment for all users. Beyond the pools, the parkβs redevelopment includes a skate park, a splashpad, walking paths and upgraded landscaping, fostering a multigenerational gathering space. This comprehensive approach encourages active community use, promotes safety and strengthens neighborhood identity. OβNeil Park and Pool exemplifies thoughtful aquatics design that balances competitive training, recreation and community engagement in a single, vibrant facility.
