The new Francis Parker School swimming pool is nestled into the southern part of the prestigious private school campus, offering breathtaking vistas of Mission Valley and downtown San Diego. As part of a campus expansion project, the swimming pool was specifically designed to accommodate the needs of all deep competitive high school swimming and water polo courses, while still providing adequate shallow water for learn-to-swim and physical education classes and summer camps thanks to a unique 800-square-foot shallow-water appendage with walkout stairs. The competitive portion of the pool includes 10 25-yard swimming lanes with a constant depth of 7 feet and a 25-yard floating cage water polo course. Alcoves on the pool deck were created to provide separate deck areas for competing teams. Spectators enjoy stadium-style seating with the pool in the foreground and canyon views in the background, creating a truly one-of-a-kind experience. A 14.5-by-8-foot video board allows spectators to follow along and see results, including live feeds and replays fully customizable for any level of competition. Highly efficient and durable mechanical and chemical systems were provided to reduce operating costs, while providing consistently clean and reliable water quality.
