Valley Rec Center

Valley Center, Kan.
Construction Cost: $19.5 million
Area / Square Feet: 44,000
Occupancy Date: February 2025

Waters Edge Aquatic Design worked with the City of Valley Center and the Valley Center Recreation Commission to design an indoor pool for the community’s new recreation and aquatics center. The Valley Rec Center opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in February 2025. The facility includes an indoor competition and recreational swimming pool designed to accommodate several programs, including swim lessons and water aerobics. The Valley Center High School Hornets competitive swim teams, which used to travel to neighboring communities, now practice in the six-lane, 25-yard indoor lap pool. The 4,627-square-foot pool offers several amenities for a variety of aquatics activities suitable for all ages. The zero-depth entry shallow area houses a play structure, a toddler slide and several underwater foaming geysers. At the same time, the lap pool contains a 1-meter diving board, a basketball hoop, a climbing wall and starting blocks. The Valley Rec Center sits on a 30-acre parcel that the city plans to expand with future developments, including an outdoor aquatics complex.
