The College of Holy Cross’ Joanne Chouinard-Luth Recreation and Wellness Center is a state-of-the-art hub for collegiate recreation, wellness and intramural sports located on the school’s upper campus. It is a breakthrough project for the institution that reshapes the school’s offerings and approach to student experience.

The new building – lovingly referred to as simply “The Jo” – offers expansive fitness and wellness spaces, and truly expands student recreation, wellness and overall health opportunities and inclusion. The three-story building unites the Holy Cross Department of Campus Recreation, Student Wellness Education, a Worksite Wellness office and Public Safety. These are the essential partners in providing for the Holy Cross community’s wellbeing, and they’re now purposefully under one roof.

The Jo has breathed new life into the Holy Cross campus culture, student experience and recreation programming and offerings. Beyond just simply updating recreation equipment, the Jo provides spaces for activities that weren’t previously offered on campus, including yoga, group cycling and more. The beautiful building and its expansive views of the campus especially benefit those students working in The Jo, the design of which caters to their comfort, experience and empowerment.
