Dr. Anthony Fauci, who has been advising the White House on matters related to the coronavirus, gave sports fans some hope in a recent interview.

In an interview with Snapchat’s Peter Hamby, Fauci said there is a way to proceed with summer sports.

"There's a way of doing that," Fauci said. "Nobody comes to the stadium. Put [the players] in big hotels, wherever you want to play, keep them pretty well surveilled ... have them tested every single week and make sure they don't wind up infecting each other or their family and just let them play the season out."

Fauci, who said he is a Washington Nationals fan, was specifically addressing a question about the possibility of a shortened baseball season. He said that he’d like to see the Nationals play again.
