The official Twitter account for the University of Iowa football team has been suspended due to music copyright infringements.

UI athletic director Steve Roa confirmed the suspension in an email to the Cedar Rapids Fox affiliate.

Roe said the infringements are from "a limited number of posts in 2018." The school's women's gymnastics account was also suspended for similar infractions earlier in the week, but has since been reactivated, he said.

"We are in the process of working with Twitter to resolve the issues and to ensure future posts are in compliance," Roe wrote. "We appreciate everyone’s patience and support of the UI Athletics Department social media accounts."

As of Monday morning, both the IU football (@HawkeyeFootball) and the Iowa State University football (@CycloneFB) accounts remained suspended.
