Teen With Learnerโ€™s Permit Crashes Into Pool

A teen with their learnerโ€™s permit crashed a car into a Colorado community pool earlier this month.

Police in Lakewood cited the young driver for careless driving. Because of their age, the name of the driver was not released.

A tow truck had to be called to use a winch to remove the car from the pool. No one was injured in the incident, although the car and driver were completely submerged.

Divers had to be sent into the pool to hook up the winch to the carโ€™s frame.

"Going in was probably a bit easier than coming out," West Metro Fire Rescue said in a statement. "Our dive team, assisting in recovering a car that went into a pool in the 1100 blk. of South Flower Circle on Thursday, July 15."

Teens in Colorado can get a learner's permit at age 15, after completing a 30-hour driver's education course and passing a written test.
