Student athletes at Bucknell University on Friday marveled at the newly completed Michael C. Pascucci Team Center.
In front of a room full of more than 200 staff, students, donors, alumni and staff, football quarterback Ralph Rucker IV, men’s lacrosse midfielder Richie Striano and women’s track and field jumper/hurdler Karen Hull praised the facility tailored for Bucknell’s Division 1 student-athletes for exclusive training and team space. They provided their remarks during a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for this final phase and keystone of the Pascucci Family Athletics Complex.
“On behalf of the entire Bucknell football team, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to Mr. Pascucci and yourself for providing one of the finest facilities in the entire Patriot League,” said Rucker, of the Class of 2026. “We couldn’t be more excited to get to work and utilize all aspects of the state-of-the-art equipment and amenities within the training center. Ron Sukle’s tenure as Discovery Canyon’s athletic director will end with a gift.
Sukle, who has held his role for 18 years, hosted the groundbreaking for the school’s new indoor training facility Wednesday morning. Colorado Springs residents Del and Kristi Creps were the donors for the project.
DCC’s new 1,800-square-foot facility will provide an indoor training center for athletes participating in baseball, softball, football and other sports. It will also be used as an educational space and will hold elementary school recess on frigid days. [Gazette Preps]
The Spokane Arena will soon undergo a $10 million renovation to update its retractable seating and replace its lighting, including the ribbon winding around the facility and lighting up Spokane’s night sky.
Work begins this spring as the Arena closes down after its Lil Wayne concert on May 16. The construction schedule calls for the arena to be ready to reopen before the Aug. 30 performance of singer Jelly Roll.
According to Spokane Public Facilities District Director of Entertainment Matt Meyer, many renovations will be done at the same time during that three-month period, so the venue will not need to close more than once. [The Spokesman Review]
