
Breaking Ground
East Texas A&M has broken ground on a multi-use event center that will primarily serve as the home of the men’s and women’s basketball teams. The 65,000-square-foot arena will seat 2,500 fans and include two multipurpose press rooms, two luxury suites, four team locker rooms, eight coaches’ offices, a loge box for around 40 guests and a training room.
Boise Pro Soccer broke ground on a 27-acre mixed-use sports park on the former Les Bois horse racing track. The first phase of the project will include a practice pitch, while the second will include five other soccer pitches that will be available for community use, in addition to softball and youth baseball parks.

Architects at Olson Kundig have presented renderings for a Bay Football Club training facility on San Francisco’s Treasure Island. The firm envisions a low-lying building that sits above a practice field, emblazoned with the Bay FC logo. The facility will have a balance of private and communal spaces, and there will be a total of three training fields, as well as dedicated recovery areas. The plan also includes education spaces to support career development and business training for athletes.
St. Bonaventure University’s Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has unveiled new plans for facility construction and renovations that will serve its growing population of nearly 400 student-athletes. The focal point of the plan is a 24,600-square-foot Athletic Performance Center that will include three main components to support the holistic development of student-athletes: a strength and conditioning center, a sports medicine center and a student-athlete lounge with a nutrition station.
The Pasco (Texas) Public Facilities District recently approved a $40 million aquatics facility. The first phase of the project is envisioned as a multi-use facility that will include lap lanes, lazy rivers, children’s areas, waterslides and many other amenities. A second phase would add competitive swimming facilities.
Grand Openings
The Syracuse University football team recently had its first look at the new, state-of-the-art Football Performance Center at the John A. Lally Athletics Complex. The space features a new locker room, an athletic training room, a dining center, position meeting rooms, offices and a player lounge, among other amenities.
Arlington, Texas, has cut the ribbon on a 73,000-square-foot community recreation center. The facility includes a full-court gymnasium, an indoor lap pool and hydrotherapy pool, four pickleball courts, a fitness area and a walking track. Social amenities include a lounge with billiards, a special events space, an arts and crafts room and more. Outdoor amenities include a patio, outdoor walking trails, six pickleball courts and a community garden.
