ESPN's John Keim first reported on Sunday that the Commanders agreed to a deal with the District of Columbia to build a new stadium where RFK Stadium still stands. The franchise played at RFK Stadium from 1961 to 1996 and won all three of its Super Bowls during that span.

While terms of the deal have yet to be announced, Keim stated that "multiple outlets reported earlier this month that the cost would exceed $3 billion."

Keim noted that Commanders owner Josh Harris previously expressed a desire to open a new stadium in 2030. The team's contract with Maryland to play at Northwest Stadium runs through 2027, but the Commanders own the land and stadium and can extend the deal as long as necessary until a new stadium is built. Central Michigan University's men's and women's golf programs are one step closer to having a new home: a 40-acre, on-campus, year-round golf facility.

On Thursday, the CMU Board of Trustees approved funding for the project's design and pre-construction services. The complete design is contingent on final fundraising results.

"This project will ensure our golf programs have practice facilities that will significantly enhance our student-athlete experience and athlete recruitment efforts," said Amy Folan, CMU Zyzelewski Family Vice President/Director of Athletics. "We are sure this facility will be among the best in the Mid-American Conference."

This Thursday, East Carolina Athletics kicked off the construction of the Isley Indoor Performance Center with a groundbreaking ceremony.

Donors, coaches, and school officials joined together, grabbing golden shovels to symbolically start the process.

This facility will be used when teams need to escape bad weather conditions outside, and can be used by all ECU teams.

The cost of this project is not state-funded, and is in the “mid-to-high 20 [million dollars] range,” according to Athletic Director Jon Gilbert.

The building is expected to be finished by October of 2026. [WITN]
