The University of South Carolina’s Board of Trustees voted on Thursday to continue moving forward with $350 million worth of improvements to Williams-Brice Stadium.
“We are grateful to the Board of Trustees for its leadership and thrilled to continue to see this project take shape and receive the necessary approvals to proceed,” said USC Athletics Director Jeremiah Donati in a release provided by the university. “Our staff, along with key partners in Populous, Legends, Contract Construction and Manhattan Construction Company have invested significant effort in preparing for this next phase. These approvals help us get one step closer towards our goal of beginning construction following the conclusion of the 2025 football season. In the coming months, we will be able to show Gamecock fans finalized concepts I know they will be excited about. These plans will impact all of our fans and significantly elevate their game day experience.”

Donati spoke during the meeting, which was held via teleconference and attended virtually by GamecockCentral.com, and outlined five priority items that the school hoped to accomplish in the course of the project.

Sacramento Republic FC Submit New Stadium Renderings
Republic FC is preparing to submit finalized plans for a 12,000-seat stadium in Sacramento’s downtown Railyards, a move that could begin construction this summer and mark a major milestone in the city’s long pursuit of a modern sports and entertainment district. The plans will go before the Sacramento City Council on June 10. If approved, the project would break ground within months, with completion targeted for spring 2027.
“This is a big step and we’ve got a hard deadline of June 10 for that city council date, which we’re really excited about,” Republic FC President and General Manager Todd Dunivant said in an interview. “That will kickstart everything.”

Board of Public Works Approves $4.7 Million for Construction of Park Facilities in Baltimore, Prince George’s, and Other Counties
The Baltimore Board of Public Works today approved more than $4.7 million in grants to local governments from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources to construct park facilities in Baltimore, Frederick, Garrett, Prince George’s, and Washington Counties.
Funding through Program Open Space – Local was approved for nine projects including three construction projects worth $2.8 million in Baltimore County. These include a mobility-friendly splash pad at Northwest Regional Park, an exercise pavilion with fitness stations at Fields at Renaissance Park, and a shore path and canoe launch at Fort Howard Veterans Park.
In Prince George’s County, College Park will receive $1.5 million in Program Open Space – Local funds for the city to construct an amphitheater, bandshell, and associated amenities at Duvall Field for community events and performances.
