The Seattle School Board and Seattle City Council have approved final transaction documents, clearing the way for construction to begin on a new Memorial Stadium at Seattle Center this summer.
The final language pertained to funding, construction and operation of the new $140 million project on the campus’ east end to replace the 1940s-era stadium. The 6,500-seat stadium project preserves the original World War II monument and will be able to hold 8,000 people for other events.

Colorado Complete Turf Conversion of Folsom Field
The Colorado Buffaloes and the University of Colorado announced significant changes to Folsom Field this offseason, and those alterations are now complete.
Folsom Field, after being natural grass since 1998, is now artificial turf. The new surface is especially prevalent in cold-weather climates, where maintaining natural grass can be challenging during the winter months. Colorado had a synthetic surface for 28 years from 1971 until 1998, during which several CU teams experienced extended periods of success.
The project began after the annual Bolder Boulder race in late May and seems to have finished ahead of schedule, as the first events scheduled at Folsom Field are for the Fourth of July weekend.

University of Wyoming Cuts Ribbon on Wrestling Practice Facility
The University of Wyoming wrestling team will soon have a new practice home. The Cowboys are scheduled to move into their new facility in the John Corbett Building following the 2025-26 season, ahead of the 2026-27 season.
The new space, totaling 13,431 feet, will more than double what the team currently possesses. It’ll also make it one of the largest and finest wrestling-specific facilities in the world.
“This is an incredible testament to how important wrestling is to the state of Wyoming,” head coach Mark Branch said. This facility will be a key factor in our continued success competing in the Big 12, and it will rival any college wrestling facility in the country. Our student-athletes will have the space and ability to train, prepare, stay healthy, and most importantly, compete for NCAA titles.”
