Brown Local Schools welcomed the community Oct. 1 for the grand opening of its new 6,000-square-foot athletic complex fieldhouse at the Malvern Community Park football stadium. The celebration doubled as a homecoming pep rally and drew students, parents, alumni and fans eager to see the long-awaited facility.
“I’m just very excited for our community,” said Superintendent Danielle Hawk. “This is an amazing opportunity and something that’s going to be utilized by our students and our community for years to come. It’s an incredible addition, and I’m so thankful for all the donors and everyone who played a part in making this happen for our school and our community.”

Muhlenberg Opens North Campus Softball Field
A crowd of 100 alumni, softball players, friends and family gathered at the opening ceremony of the new north-campus softball field at 11 a.m. on Saturday. With the help of President Kathleen Harring and Allentown Mayor Matt Turek, the College officially unveiled the new field and dugout. The morning filled the community with a lot of enthusiasm for the latest addition to campus.
The field has been under construction for over a year and had an original finish date of March 29, which was supposed to be their 2025 conference opener against Swarthmore College last spring. Unfortunately, due to a construction delay, the finish date kept getting pushed back until this year. Maddy Svenningsen ‘26 said, “It was extremely difficult to compete in the season without an official home field. We were constantly traveling, and that took a toll on all of us. With that said, I am extremely grateful for our coaching staff. Head Coach Sarah Leavenworth and Coach Maddisen Bieber never stopped advocating for their players. This field would not have been built if it weren’t for their efforts.” The team started their practices on the field on Aug. 30, and they have been working to get the hang of maintenance and getting used to the new grass.
