Oklahoma City Provides First Look at $121M Multipurpose Stadium
Oklahoma City revealed the first look at a new multipurpose stadium planned south of the Bricktown District during a MAPS 4 subcommittee meeting Wednesday.
The $121 million stadium is planned to host various sporting contests, concerts and events, but soccer will be the main focus of the stadium. Construction is set to begin this spring, and it is scheduled to open January 2028, according to a news release from the city.
The design renderings for the stadium were unveiled during the MAPS 4 Venues Subcommittee meeting. The stadium was designed by the architectural firm Populous, and it will include a U.S. Soccer Federation-approved field with a 10,000-guest capacity.
Western Michigan Announces Major Remodel of Bill Brown Football Alumni Center
Vice President/Director of Athletics Dan Bartholomae and Western Michigan University Athletics announced today a transformational renovation to the Bill Brown Football Alumni Center—an investment that will significantly elevate the daily training, recovery, and development experience for Bronco Football. Supported by a generous lead gift of $2.5 Million from David and Ronda Stafford, the project includes a complete remodel of the athletic training room, a fully reimagined weight room, and a redesigned entryway leading into the team locker room. Construction will begin immediately following the conclusion of the 2025 football season.
"Our football program is deeply indebted to the generosity of David and Ronda Stafford and the Stafford-Smith corporation," said Bartholomae. "In addition to providing the largest named gift in our history last year, they have followed back up with a transformational $2.5M gift that allows us to commence construction on two incredibly important amenities to our football program – our training room and our strength and conditioning room. And I can't think of better namesakes, donors and friends. The Stafford Family and Stafford-Smith embody what it means to be a Bronco – a CHAMPION that has found success in our community and gives back so generously to our football program."
Construction Underway on Bloomington's New Community Center
Construction is officially underway on Bloomington’s new community health and wellness center at 9801 Penn Avenue. Crews began work in November following the October demolition of the former Creekside Community Center.
The new facility will replace the aging Creekside and Bloomington Public Health buildings built in the 1960s. It will offer expanded space for health services, fitness, recreation and community programs. Designed to serve residents of all ages and abilities, new amenities will include gymnasiums, a walking track, indoor playground, multipurpose rooms and more.
The project was approved by voters in a November 2023 referendum after extensive community input. Residents shared feedback at 19 public engagement events, online and through City Council meetings.
