North Pole Announces Massive Elven Athletics Performance Center
Claus Enterprises announced plans Thursday for a 125,000-square-foot state-of-the-art athletics performance center designed exclusively for The Workshop's 10,000-member elven workforce.
The $250 million facility, scheduled to break ground in spring 2026, will feature specialized equipment scaled to Elven proportions, including 4-foot-tall squat racks, miniature battle ropes and custom agility ladders with 3-inch rungs.
"For too long, our Elves have been forced to use oversized human equipment or conduct training sessions between toy assembly shifts," said Klaus Jingleheimer, North Pole director of Workforce Wellness. "This facility addresses the unique athletic needs of a population averaging 3-foot-2 and working 23-hour shifts during peak season."
The center will include a 50-meter heated indoor pool (2.5 feet deep), eight regulation-size pickleball courts, a 10,000-square-foot functional training area and a hydrotherapy suite featuring candy cane-scented recovery pools. A dedicated sleigh-pulling training track will simulate the resistance of nine fully-loaded reindeer.
Nutritionists will staff an on-site fueling station offering performance-optimized versions of traditional Elven cuisine, including protein-enhanced gingerbread and electrolyte-infused hot cocoa.
"The ROI is clear," said Jingleheimer. "Preliminary studies show proper conditioning reduces toy-assembly errors by 34% and decreases workshop injuries related to repetitive wrapping strain."
The facility will also house the North Pole's first sports medicine clinic, addressing common Elven athletic ailments including jingle bell elbow, ribbon-curl shoulder and acute peppermint bark shin splints.
Mrs. Claus, who chairs the Employee Wellness Committee, emphasized the center's mental health components. "We're including meditation grottos and a mindfulness center specifically designed to help elves decompress after the holiday season push. And don't forget Rudolph and company, they'll have an outdoor turf area for all their reindeer games."
A groundbreaking ceremony is slated for March 2026, with completion targeted before the critical October training period.

New England Revolution Announce Plans for New Stadium
The New England Revolution unveiled plans for an approximately 24,000-seat world-class stadium and a nearly 4-acre waterfront park along the Mystic River in Everett, MA that will be open to members of the public year-round. The current site, an environmentally contaminated decommissioned power station, is poised to become a valuable community resource, pending regulatory approvals. The development will provide a dedicated venue for Revolution home matches and function as a regional hub for community events and concerts, enhancing accessibility for fans and residents alike.
The City of Everett has historically borne the burden of local industrial activities with the second-highest percentage of industrial-zoned land among municipalities surrounding Boston. Residents of the area have been deprived of public access to the Mystic River waterfront for decades.
Additionally, there are 31 environmental justice populations located within 1 mile of the proposed site.
New Haven Cuts Ribbon on New Athletics Center
Dozens of student athletes, school district leaders, city and state officials, and high school sports fans gathered at the Floyd Little Athletic Center Thursday to celebrate the completion of a state-funded, $8.77 million renovation.
They also marked the dedication of a new basketball court in honor of two local legends — former school district athletics director Robert “Bob” Laemel and the late former Hillhouse principal and celebrated basketball coach Salvatore “Red” Verderame.
That ceremony took place on the second floor of the 480 Sherman Pkwy. “field house,” which hosts athletic practices and competitions in indoor track and field, basketball, and wrestling for New Haven public school students. The athletic center is also regularly used for sports competitions involving young people from throughout the region.
