Portland Fire and Rescue was notified around 4:45 a.m. Monday, and arrived to find water gushing into the lobby and cardio room. Crews were not able to stem the water flow completely until around 6:15 a.m.
Responders told KOIN6News that one to two inches of water covered some of the lower-level treadmill bases, and at one point water in the lobby came up to a firefighter’s hip. The club’s basketball and racquet ball courts also have significant water damage.
As of Monday afternoon, the club’s website predicted closure through Friday at 5 p.m. A sign posted on the front door directs local members to use the Lloyd District location.
