Tough Mudder Opens Bootcamp Gym in Denver

Adventure obstacle course racing company Tough Mudder this weekend will hold a grand opening for a new Bootcamp gym in Denver, Colo.

The new gym is just one of four like it in the nation. Others are now open in Boston, Las Vegas and Houston.

“This facility is beautiful,” Neelima told the Denver Post this week after a 45-minute workout at the facility on East Colfax near City Park. “In the middle of my workout I was looking out the windows. My other facility had very small windows, it was in a high rise, it was just a very urban facility. This is beautiful, it’s new, it’s clean, the colors are gorgeous, the bathrooms are really clean. They have everything you need.”

The new gym is part of Tough Mudder’s plan to diversify its offerings by franchising boot camp gyms around the country. The gyms aren’t intended solely for those who do the Tough Mudder races. The gyms aim to meet the same market segment that Orange Theory caters to.

“We’re getting you fit for whatever you want to accomplish in life,” said Brian Anglin, who owns the Denver gym. “We don’t care if you’re running a Tough Mudder or not. We just want to make sure that the fitness things you want to accomplish, we will help you do that.”

Much like HIIT workouts, the goal is to increase strength, power, agility and endurance with short periods of high-intensity work punctuated by brief recoveries.

In the future, Tough Mudder envisions 12 Bootcamp gyms in Denver alone.
