According to Albuquerque television station KRQE, a New Mexico real estate developer appears poised to withdraw its plans to build a fitness center after complaints from the neighborhood.
Consensus Planning reportedly had plans to build a Defined Fitness location in the upscale Albuquerque Acres neighborhood. Plans for a 32-foot-tall structure drew ire from local residents, who told KRQE that they felt the building would obstruct views and bring traffic to the area.
In response to the backlash, the developer will reportedly withdraw its request to rezone the area to pave the way for the gym.
The County Planning Commission will hear the matter at its upcoming meeting Nov. 6.
