A Williston, Vt., gym announced that it would be closing permanently on Friday, but it seems that reports of the gym’s demise had been highly exaggerated, as the gym was reopened on Monday morning.

The Burlington Free Press reports that members were notified of Synergy Fitness‚Äô decision to close on Friday with a Facebook post and a sign in the window.

‚ÄúEconomically we had no choice,‚ÄĚ the post read, noting that members would receive a refund for membership dues and personal training.

Members reacted to the post mostly with disappointment, while other local gyms pounced on to offer a free month of membership to affected Synergy patrons.

But almost as abruptly as it was closed, Synergy was saved when a buyer swooped in on Sunday to acquire the business. The buyer identified himself as Erik Shepard in a Facebook post.

According to the post, the gym will honor all existing memberships and training sessions, and bring back all of the same staff that had been employed by Synergy before.
