Midtown department store Saks Fifth Avenue is clearing the clothing racks and turning its second floor into a pop-up health-and-wellness mecca called the Saks Wellery.
The 16,000-square-foot space, which opens Monday, is like a healthy-living food court, with more than 20 different vendors hawking everything from boutique fitness classes, athleisure gear for men and women, beauty products, exercise equipment, manicures, meditation, and even dry salt rooms.
"We started looking into [how] our customers were living their lives and what they were looking for when they had free time," says Roopal Patel, fashion director at Saks. "It's not just about what you put on the outside of your body that's important, but how you treat the inside." In other words, after sweating away those extra pounds in a Tracy Anderson class in Saks' wellness space, you can fit into the Rag & Bone jeans it sells three floors up.
Here, your tour of some of the new space's get-fitfeelgood highlights. Tip: Book classes with the MindBody app, or through an on-hand fitnessconcierge.
