Aerial View: Field Lighting Toppled at OBU By Storm Winds

News footage taken from a helicopter shows a light pole that was downed at the Oklahoma Baptist University baseball field after severe storms and a tornado hit the Shawnee, Okla., area last week.

Winds took a large metal container and tossed it into the light pole Wednesday, which knocked over the tall light, KOCO-TV reported. Aerial images taken from a news helicopter Thursday showed the downed pole and debris.

At least eight tornadoes touched down Wednesday night in Oklahoma, leaving three people dead and widespread damage in parts of the state. Several OBU buildings were damaged in the storms.

OBU has started a disaster relief fund to restore the damaged buildings and fields.

OBU said Friday that it had begun the restoration process with the help of volunteers and agencies, but that the OBU Department of Athletics is asking for help from alumni, and fans to return the facilities and spaces back to normal. Alumni and fans of Bison Athletics are encouraged to give by going to this page: Tornado Relief - Bison Athletics

"We want to thank you for your consideration of this important request in this challenging time on the campus of OBU," the university wrote. "All funds donated will go to the immediate fixture of these facilities. Thank you for your overwhelming support of Bison Hill thus far."
