‘New Year, Nude You’ at SoHo’s Hanson Fitness

While many fitness spaces enforce dress codes specifically tailored to minimize skin contact with equipment and gym surfaces, Hanson Fitness of New York is ringing in the new year by launching a new, nude workout class.

In a Facebook announcement, the celebrity gym described the nude class as a total-body workout, designed to use body weight to focus on muscle toning in the glutes, legs and core — “making you look and feel good naked.”

The post claims that working out in the buff provides a number of health benefits, including “skin breathing, the release of endorphins due to Vitamin D from sunlight and complete body awareness so you can see if you're cheating on your exercise routines.”

Gym founder Harry Hanson says the sessions are intended to inspire body confidence in participants, telling the INDEPENDENT, “Our approach makes sure our members get and stay in the absolute best shape, and our new naked personal fitness sessions are no exception.”

“This new development brings with it a range of fitness and health benefits and allows our members to have a little cheeky fun in the process,” said Hanson.

On Facebook, the gym sums up the New Year's stunt saying, “These naked personal training sessions are all about creating a ‘new (‘nu-de’) you.’ “
