Headquarters Health, an industry-leading virtual clinic for specialized concussion care, today announced a partnership with the HeadStrong Concussion Insurance Program for youth athletes in participating sports programs. The relationship will provide athletes with access to timely concussion care and protect families from potentially significant costs associated with diagnosis and recovery.

The last thing a family should have to think about is paying for care or navigating the insurance maze,” said Orestis Skoutellas, co-founder of Headquarters Health. “By partnering with HeadStrong, we built the underlying infrastructure so coverage, claims, and billing run seamlessly behind the scenes. Any athlete covered by HeadStrong now has access to specialized care next-day for $0 out-of-pocket.”

Athletes are automatically covered when their sports program enrolls in HeadStrong, with no need for individual applications or healthcare questionnaires. It provides up to $25,000 of coverage per injury with a zero-dollar deductible and no out-of-pocket expenses. Full neurological care is covered, from the initial diagnosis to specialist appointments, imaging, cognitive testing and follow-up care. HeadStrong provides secondary coverage that works alongside an athlete’s existing health insurance. If an athlete does not have primary insurance, HeadStrong can become the primary payor.

Developed by Dissinger Reed, a division of HUB International, the HeadStrong program is the longest running concussion-only insurance program in the United States. Mutual of Omaha serves as the insurance carrier and claims payor for the program.

The HeadStrong program has insured more than 700,000 athletes nationwide. Any school district or youth sports program in the US can purchase coverage through the HeadStrong Concussion Insurance Program. Coverage costs $1.35 per athlete annually, and includes access to the Headquarters Health telehealth clinic.
