Intake Breathing, the patented magnetic nasal breathing system used by professional and everyday athletes to support breathing during training, competition, recovery and sleep, today announced the launch of Sport Tabs, a new performance-focused tab engineered specifically for high-sweat, high-impact activity, Intake Breathing online.
The launch brings Intake back to its performance roots. The technology behind Intake was originally developed by inventor and Intake Founder, Jim Castillo, to solve a problem he observed in motocross, where goggles could restrict riders’ nasal breathing. What began as a performance-driven solution evolved into the patented magnetic nasal breathing system that Jim, his daughter Natalie and son-in-law Alex Hauck ultimately built into Intake Breathing. Sport Tabs take that original performance DNA further, incorporating feedback from elite athletes and real-world use into a tab designed specifically for intense training and competition, and for sleep users who need stronger adhesion.
Sport Tabs feature a stronger FDA-registered medical-grade adhesive, breathable micro-perforated tape, and a redesigned tab shape built for sweat-intensive training and competition.
“Some of the best product development happens when you stop telling athletes what they need and start watching how they actually use the product,” said Alex Hauck, Co-Founder & CEO of Intake Breathing. “We had athletes finding Intake organically, putting it into their routines and then telling us what they needed when training and competition became more intense. Sport Tabs came directly out of that. We took what was already working and re-engineered the details around the demands of elite performance: more adhesion and more breathability. The goal was simple: when an athlete is pushing at their highest level, their breathing equipment shouldn’t be the thing they’re thinking about.”
FROM ORGANIC USERS TO INTAKE AMBASSADORS
The development of Sport Tabs reflects something Intake has seen repeatedly as the brand has grown: elite athletes discovering the product independently, incorporating it into their training, sleep and recovery routines and, in several cases, developing relationships with Intake after already becoming users.
Viktor Thorup, three-time Olympic speed skater and 2026 Olympic silver medalist, began exploring nasal breathing as part of his search for incremental performance gains after the 2022 Olympic Games. Thorup tested multiple products and tracked his performance and recovery before choosing Intake. He went on to use Intake during aerobic training, sleep and recovery and wore the new Sport Tabs during his Olympic speed skating events on his way to winning silver in the men’s mass start.
Justin Wrobleski, Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher, two-time World Series champion and 2026 Major League All-Star, also came to the brand organically. Wrobleski discovered Intake himself and incorporated it into his nightly routine well before the company approached him about working together. What began as a product he personally purchased and used eventually grew into an ambassador relationship built around his existing training, sleep and recovery routine.
Intake has also become part of the performance routines of elite professional footballers, including Astros Carlos Correa and World Cup athlete Amadou Onana, further expanding the brand’s presence across professional sports.
“That authenticity matters to us,” Hauck added. “We don’t want to put Intake in an athlete’s hand for the first time on the day of a photo shoot. The relationships we’re most excited about are the ones where the athlete was already using it because it solved something for them. Viktor tested the category himself. Justin was buying Intake before we ever had a partnership conversation. Those are the people we want helping us build what comes next.”
BUILT FOR PERFORMANCE
Sport Tabs were developed to perform in conditions where athletes need more from their equipment. The new tabs feature an FDA-registered stronger adhesive reformulated to hold under sweat while remaining comfortable to remove. A breathable, micro-perforated tape construction allows sweat vapor to pass through the material rather than pooling underneath. Sport Tabs are part of Intake’s two-part system. Paired with rigid band support that holds its shape, the reusable Intake Band retains its form during inhalation to help keep nasal passages open during demanding activity. The result is an evolution of Intake’s existing system created specifically for athletes who train and compete in demanding environments.
OLYMPIC-TESTED, BUILT FOR EVERYDAY ATHLETES
While Sport Tabs were developed with elite athletic performance in mind, they were designed for anyone whose training pushes standard adhesion to its limits, from professional competitors to runners, cyclists, gym-goers and recreational athletes. Sport Tabs can also be worn during sleep and recovery. Each pack contains 20 Sport Tabs (20 uses) and requires an existing Intake Band, the magnetic bridge used with the Intake system. The launch represents Intake’s continued expansion within performance and mainstream fitness, connecting technology tested at the highest levels of sport with consumers looking for better ways to support breathing throughout training, recovery and everyday life.
