Vanderbilt University announced May 23 that it had received a $20 million commitment to help reimagine the future of Commodores men’s and women’s basketball. An anonymous alum will match qualifying gifts and pledges from alumni, up to $20 million, to support the basketball operations center and practice facility set to open this fall.
GameAbove — a successful multifaceted brand consisting of charitable giving, capital investments, sports entertainment, and media ventures — has committed $6.5 million to the Eastern Michigan University men's and women's golf programs, according to a May 28 announcement by the EMU athletic department. This commitment brings GameAbove’s total support for EMU Golf to over $14.5 million, marking the greatest level of support from a single donor to one sport in the university’s history.
Southern Alberta Institute of Technology has received a $30 million donation from Don and Ruth Taylor. Scheduled to open in 2027, the 270,000-square-foot Taylor Family Campus Centre will feature a three-court gymnasium, a running track and a rink as part of the athletic footprint, as well as a large health and wellness footprint, according to Global News. It will also house a large student gathering place, including a new "Gateway" pub, and a convention space capable of hosting 700 people.
